Camping Adventure
The latest and very first camping weekend for all families in the picturesque Arakoon National Park was a huge success.
Families from the whole region gathered. We opened with a Welcome to Country and a most entertaining lesson of the local Gumbaynggir language with Michael Jarret.
We had a four-year old teaching the children and the adults a beautiful song where everyone was able to join in.
The children discovered a dinosaur land, where their imaginations could run wild... and they found a real Goanna.
During this play time we also gathered local resources from nature to start making some 'beach and bush art'. The children made letters and learnt to tie knots.
This physical adventure called for some more quiet time and we all gathered with Karen - a local Yoga teacher - for some family yoga and more fantasy journeys. We became rabbits, lions, snakes and had actual real life kangaroos watching us curiously.

For dinner we all shared some delicious plates of food while the sun was setting over the ocean. It became an abundant feast for everyone and the views and nature inspired some deep conversations amongst the adults while the children where still beautifully playing together.
As soon as the sun set we had a primitive fire making demonstration. And yes, we where successful as a team!
The final highlight was an astronomer explain the universe and cosmology in a family friendly way, followed by star gazing through a massive telescope.
And the next day began with a family yoga session.
A huge thank you goes out to the whole organisation team, all the amazing volunteers from the community for coming out to share their expertise and knowledge, and to all the families who joined us.
We will treasure this amazing experience forever, the bond between the children has grown stronger and we will be able to plan another campout later this year.
